Left, right, and straight
'Derecha' (right) and 'derecho' (straight) sound nearly identical — context saves you. 'Siga derecho, luego a la derecha' = keep going straight, then to the right.

Position words
Use 'al lado de' for 'next to', 'detrás de' for 'behind', and 'cerca de' for 'near'. 'Libre' on a taxi sign means it's available.
