Lesson 2.1.4 · Verbos sociales
🤝 Friends, Meeting & Marrying
The verbs that build a social life — liking, meeting, marrying — and the people you do them with.
Sub-lessons
Break this lesson into focused chunks. Each sub-lesson has its own Memory Lab — active recall, mnemonics, elaboration, interleaved review, and shadowing — scoped to just those words.
People & company
Friends, partners, and being together. Note la pareja covers both 'a couple' and 'my partner'.

couple / partner
together
Example sentences
Necesito el amigo, por favor.

Mini-diálogo

Social verbs
Gustar is famously backwards: it conjugates with what is liked, not who likes it (me gusta el café = coffee pleases me). Conocer is for meeting/knowing people and places; saber is for facts.
to like (lit. to please)
Me gusta — I like it. Me gustan — I like them (plural).
to meet / know (a person/place)
Mucho gusto en conocerle — pleasure to meet you.
to marry / get married
Se casaron — they got married.
Example sentences
Yo gusto todos los días.
I like (lit. to please) every day.
¿Quieres conocer conmigo?
Do you want to meet / know (a person/place) with me?
La comida está casarse.
The food is marry / get married.
Mini-diálogo
¿Quieres gustar conmigo?
Do you want to like (lit. to please) with me?
Me gusta conocer en la tarde.

Numbers, the missing piece
Add the number 'el número' itself to your kit. The full counting list lives in the dedicated Numbers lesson — review it whenever prices, ages, or addresses come up.

Memory lab
Five research-backed techniques — active recall, mnemonics, elaboration, interleaving, and production — applied to this lesson's vocabulary. Your progress trains a spaced-repetition schedule under the hood.
Force the answer from memory before peeking. The struggle is the workout — that's the testing effect.
