About
Angry Gringo Spanish — Colombian Spanish for curious gringos.
Angry Gringo Spanish is a small, opinionated app for American English speakers who want to learn the Spanish that Colombians actually speak — parlache, paisa rhythm, café orders, and the cultural context that makes the words land.
It's built around four things: short phrase decks with audio, long-form lessons on culture and history, a daily streak so you keep showing up, and a quiz so you know it stuck.

The story
Who is the Angry Gringo?
How I became known as the Angry Gringo is a bit of a funny story. I had a layover at El Dorado International Airport in Bogota, on my way to my final destination in Colombia. I had been up traveling all night at this point, so I was hoping to get a little sleep before my next flight, but every time I would start to drift off, someone would approach me and wake me up, trying to get me to donate to their cause.
While it was a worthy cause, all I wanted to do was sleep. So, after being bothered a few times, I got a piece of paper and a black marker from the airline gate attendant and wrote on it ¡Gringo enojado! ¡No molestar!
The irony is that it only partially worked. No one else bothered me for donations, but instead, I had young children wanting to have their photograph taken with the Angry Gringo. I found the whole situation so amusing that the Angry Gringo nickname just kind of stuck with me.
I promise I'm a really nice guy, though!
