Lesson 3.1.3 · El amor en español
❤️ Love & Affection
Colombian Spanish has more shades of love than English. Querer is everyday affection; amar is the deep, declared kind. Learn the vocabulary — and don't be shy with the besos.
Sub-lessons
Break this lesson into focused chunks. Each sub-lesson has its own Memory Lab — active recall, mnemonics, elaboration, interleaved review, and shadowing — scoped to just those words.
The two kinds of love
Te quiero is what you say to family, close friends, and most partners — warm, real, but light. Te amo is reserved for romantic love, family in serious moments, or anything you want to mark as profound.
love
Mi amor — my love (used constantly, even with strangers in shops).
to love (deeply)
to want / to love
Te quiero is everyday 'I love you'.
heart
De todo corazón — with all my heart.
